MUSIC FESTIVAL 

The 2022 Suzanne Culley Music Festival is presented by the Stamford Music & Arts Academy and is supported by the Suzanne Culley charity organization.

Suzanne Culley Festival Rules and Regulations:


Students who participate in the 2022 Suzanne Culley Solo Competition are not eligible to enter this event!

Age Groups (age as of April 1, 2022)
Group 1: 5 – 6 yo
Group 2: 7 – 8 yo
Group 3: 9 – 10 yo
Group 4: 11 – 12 yo
Group 5: 13 – 14 yo
Group 6: 15 – 16 yo
Group 7: 17 – 18 yo

Application Fee & Submission Deadlines:
Application Fee: $30 per applicant and $40 per group

Application and Video Submission Deadline: April 1, 2022

 

 

 

Repertoire Requirements:
One selection of the contestant’s choice from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern Period. All music should be performed from memory.

Chamber Ensembles and Piano Duets may use music. Arrangements are welcome!

Video Submission:

Only video recordings will be accepted - no audio recordings. No editing or effects may be added to the video recording. 
Confirm that your selected music meets the repertoire requirements found above. Your video should include a full performance of your chosen repertoire.
Your video should be recorded in a room with good lighting. You will not be penalized for the quality of your video, but please keep in mind that it is important that the quality is clear enough to see and hear you. Your face and instrument should be clearly visible in the video.

All pieces should be performed in one continuous take (do not create separate videos for each movement/piece).
Please be sure that the accompaniment is not louder than the applicant's playing (when applicable) and that there is no audio distortion.

Please title your video with your name and instrument, and include the program in your video description. Do not announce the pieces in your video.

Videos should be posted to YouTube - download links (Google Drive, DropBox, etc) will not be accepted. We would recommend setting your video submission to "Unlisted"

The dress code is as follows: Gentlemen – dress pants, shirt with collar, and optional blazer and tie. Ladies – dress, blouse and skirt or dress pants. No jeans, sneakers, flip-flops, or UGG boots are allowed.

Payment will be accepted via PayPal. Application fee is not refundable, please review guidelines carefully.

Judging Rules:
The decision of the jury is final.
Jury members are not allowed to judge former or current students.
The Suzanne Culley Music Festival respects diversity and the festival does not discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or political association.

Awards and Prizes:
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Trophies will be awarded to participants with the highest marks in each instrumental category (Piano, Piano Duets, Strings, Winds, Voice and Chamber Ensemble).
